New Arrivals: Films of Damon Packard

Night Flight Plus is beyond excited to launch a new section dedicated to visionary experimental filmmaker Damon Packard! From Damon: "Night Flight brings back everything about late-night TV in the ’80s and ’90s—the endless nights of channel surfing the few network channels there were, Movies Till Dawn, Friday Night Videos, Elvira or Night Flight itself. It was a completely different era, a strange and intoxicating dimension of television that can never really be recreated. Today’s culture feeds on commercialized nostalgia, mythologizing people, trends and creative movements that it never experienced first-hand, always reaching to the past where there is no future. But those of us who grew up with it didn’t need myth—we lived it. We thought those nights would last forever. Instead, they were the last flicker before the screen went dark."

SpaceDisco One

SpaceDisco One (2007) is a delirious 45-minute fusion of retro-futurist spectacle and meta-cinema, imagined as both a lost sequel to 1984 and Logan’s Run. At its center are two glitter-clad heroines, Stargirl 7 and Frances 8, who roller-skate across a colossal starship designed as a hedonistic roller rink, their movements captured in a faux “behind-the-scenes” docum...Read More
