synopsis
Cult director Doris Wishman brings a queer perspective to the Noir classic Suddenly in her quintessential roughie, A Taste of Flesh. A lesbian couple become hostages in their own apartment when assassins use it as a vantage point to take out a diplomat at a hotel across the street. The entire film is shot in one apartment with only five actors, making this Wishman's most claustrophobic film. Then there are the usual touches: shower scenes; black lingerie; brutal, leering men; helpless, strangely aloof women; cutaways to furniture; feet; and a surprise ending.
