Welcome to your crash course on the history of Hong Kong Exploitation Cinema, one of the most curious and invigorating periods in exploitation filmmaking. This new documentary arrival covers the rise and fall of Hong Kong's notorious Category III (think UK Video Nasties or US's NC-17) cinema which reached a peak during the years 1988 and the lead-up to the Handover in 1997. Directed by Calum Waddell, whose genre studies on Italian Cannibal Films, South African Exploitation films, and the essential 42nd Street Memories, are also streaming now!
