synopsis
Lisa Suzanne Johnson was born on October 20, 1963 in Corning, California. She is widely recognized as the premier portrait guitar photographer in the industry having captured hundreds of the most famous and sacred instruments owned and operated with passion and precision by a pantheon of players. Her two best-selling coffee table volumes, 101 Rock Star Guitars and Immortal Axes, capture the color, culture and spirit of these weapons of riff destruction. I’ve worked with Lisa for a decade, interviewing guitarists at the annual NAMM show and helping to secure a session now and then. My essay, “A Cosmic Tale” which recounts the sojourn to shoot Steve Hackett’s 1976 Zemaitis acoustic, opens her second book. Knowing Lisa has been a joyful blessing.
