synopsis

Ray Davies of the Kinks made his filmmaking debut in 1984 as director, writer, and composer of Return to Waterloo, a music-driven feature where songs replace dialogue. The story follows Ken Colley on a haunting, surreal journey blending fantasy and reality, with appearances by Tim Roth and Davies himself. Return to Waterloo embraces Davies’ satirical (and occasionally comical) view of modern society, as reflected in over thirty albums over a remarkable twenty-five years with The Kinks.
